April 24, 2024 – New Jersey Alliance for Action members gathered at Forsgate Country Club Wednesday morning to hear details about upcoming opportunities from the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Colonel Alexander Young of the New York District and Lt. Colonel Jeffery Beeman of the Philadelphia District.

The New York District focuses on all regions above the Manasquan River specializing in coastal storm damage reduction, environmental restoration, flood risk management, and navigation dredging in the Port of NY and NJ, and more.

The Philadelphia District manages southern New Jersey focusing on beach nourishment, dam safety modifications, DMPF maintenance, sea wall remediation, dredging, and more.

The USACE is spending millions of dollars in upcoming projects within both districts. Following the Colonels, Zachary Bernard, Deputy Chief for Small Business Programs of the New York District provided great information on how Alliance members can do business with the US Army Corps of Engineers moving forward.

An informative conversation followed Mr. Bernard with a panel discussion on how important building resiliency is and how the work being done is adapting to the various changes in New Jersey.  Anazette Ray from Zetlin & De Chaira LLP moderated a panel including:

  • Anthony Gonsiewski, President/Business Manager, IUOE Local 25
  • Lynn Nietfeld, Senior Vice President, East Coast Region, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp
  • Armando Veguez, Executive Director, Montana Construction
  • Dale Foster, Senior Project Manager, GPI

“It’s great what the US Army Corps of Engineers is doing for New Jersey,” said Alliance President Jerry Keenan, “the Alliance is looking forward to working closely with the USACE to improve resiliency for New Jersey and create opportunities for our members.”
