Monroe, New Jersey (September 19, 2024) – Several transportation leaders outlined billions of dollars in new capital initiatives at today’s 22nd Annual New Jersey Statewide Transportation Conference.
Officials treated the standing-room-only crowd at the New Jersey Alliance for Action event to never-before-disclosed projects that will continue to transform the region.
“Today was simply unmatched for the amount of breaking news our guests shared with our members,” Alliance President Jerry Keenan said. “The people in the room took home valuable information on projects that will improve the lives of everyone who lives, works and visits our state.”
“There’s nowhere where people come together for a few hours and leave with game-changing information like this,” Keenan added.

Commissioner O’Connor said the “NJDOT plans on opening bids for the Pulaski Contract 6A next month. It will be the largest project awarded of our State Fiscal Year 25 Capital Program, ranging between $200 to $250 Million.” The contract aims to replace, reconstruct and rehabilitate several parts of the three-and-a-half mile Skyway.
Kevin Corbett announced that “NJ TRANSIT is now releasing its $17 billion capital program looking forward to 2030.” Furthermore, “just this week the Board approved a construction award for the half billion dollar DELCO Lead County Yard Project, a part of the Superstorm Sandy Resiliency Program.”
Stephen Dougherty shared exciting news that “the South Jersey Transportation Authority has started work on soil erosion and sediment control and conduit trenching for the $93.2 million All-Electronic Tolling project that will replace the two main barrier plazas and all toll machines with 10 state-of the-art gantry systems on the Atlantic City Expressway.”
Jim Carone announced the New Jersey Turnpike Authority is fast-tracking the “Interchange 1 to Interchange 4 design and construction contracts.”
Derick Hallahan told Alliance members “Get ready!” because Amtrak has a full plate with “700 upcoming projects worth more than $200 million each.”
Amanda Rogers shared the many achievements The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has made in awarding billions of dollars in M/WBE and local contracts for projects at Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK airports.
Steve Sigmund said the Gateway Development Commission “expects to execute the $3.8 billion federal-state partnership grant agreement for the Hudson River Tunnel in the next few days.” As Steve put it, “Hell or high water this thing is happening!”
“Transportation is the bread and butter of New Jersey,” Keenan said. “There are billions of dollars being invested in new construction among all the agencies that spoke here today. These projects are all creating jobs, economic opportunities and a better life for all New Jersey residents and businesses.”
