MONROE, NJ (February 5, 2025) – The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) plans over $800 million in construction over the next five years, according to Chief Engineer Mike Venuto.

Venuto made his comments this morning at the NJ Alliance for Action’s second Inside Scoop event of 2025. 

“It is a great time to be interested in work at the DRPA. You saw the capital program. We have a tremendous amount of work and we’re looking for people and companies that want to be a part of our program,” said Venuto.

Venuto detailed the DRPA’s $800 million five year capital plan, which includes upgrades to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, the Betsy Ross Bridge, the Walt Whitman Bridge, the PATCO and more. He also detailed upcoming construction projects, including the Glassboro-Camden Line, a new public safety training facility, and embankment restorations and viaduct substructure preservation work in South Jersey.

“The DRPA has about a billion dollars worth of work coming out and they are stewards of some amazing properties, whether its bridges across the Delaware River or the PATCO Line,” said Senior Vice President Chris Hartman. “These upcoming projects are creating jobs, stimulating the economy, and improving infrastructure relied on by many throughout the region”.

Amid maintaining and developing major assets, the DRPA has increased tolls just once since 2011, while spending  $1.9 billion toll dollars on capital investments since the increase 13 years ago.
