GALLOWAY TWP., N.J (August 7, 2026)– South Jersey is leading the way in vital investments to healthcare, education, transportation, infrastructure and more, an enthusiastic crowd at the NJ Alliance for Action’s Investing In South Jersey meeting learned this morning. In fact, more than $3.5 billion in upcoming construction opportunities were detailed.

“We cannot afford to overlook South Jersey as an engine for the state’s economy,” NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said. “This region is making major investments in our most vital infrastructure – education, healthcare, transportation, environmental protection and more. Advancing and maintaining these things creates jobs, supports businesses, and strengthens communities across the board.”

An all-star lineup of speakers shared details on the following:

  • NJ Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Ed Potosnak detailed the state’s nuclear energy priorities and several coastal engineering projects.
  • Rowan University President Ali Houshmand provided an overview of the West Campus Development Project, a $690 million initiative expected to generate over 4,170 construction jobs and over 900 permanent jobs. Additional investments totaling $790 million over the next five years include a new sports training facility, Rowan Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, international partnerships, the new Physician Assistant program, and more.
  • South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty detailed the Atlantic City Expressway Third Lane Widening project, multiple projects at the Atlantic City International Airport, the SJ Connects initiative, and Glassboro-Camden Line advancements.
  • AtlantiCare Health System President & CEO Michael Charlton spoke about a billion-plus dollars in upcoming projects through 2030.
  • NJ Air National Guard (NJANG) Commander LT Col. Ricardo Basora Rovira outlined multi-year federal investments to the NJANG Base located at the Atlantic City International Airport.
  • South Jersey Industries Senior Vice President & Renewable Energy Ventures President Chet Benham shared updates on construction of the Burlington County Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project and the Linden Renewable Energy Project.
  • Atlantic City Electric Region (ACE) President and Vice President of Governmental & External Affairs Andrew Hendry gave a joint presentation with Atlantic City Electric Senior Manager of Distribution Engineering & Design Bill Saraceno on upcoming investments, including a new Battery Energy Storage System in Cumberland County, a new Woolwich substation, a Glassboro substation rebuild, a 69kV transmission line rebuild from Churchtown to Paulsboro, and more.
