MONROE, NJ (January 29, 2025) — NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Fran O’Connor said funding for new capital projects would not be affected by recent announcements in Washington.

O’Connor, who was officially confirmed as NJDOT chief in June, made his remarks before a standing-room-only crowd at the NJ Alliance for Action’s Inside Scoop meeting this morning.

The Commissioner shared several opportunities for attendees to get involved with upcoming work, noting the NJDOT has 55 projects to be pushed through and 131 consultant selections to be made in the next six months. He also detailed the vision zero commission and the push for safer roads, drivers and infrastructure. This includes developing and implementing new technology.

“Your support and partnership is what drives our successes at the D.O.T,” said the Commissioner .

Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan, said “Fran O’Connor is a great DOT Commissioner for a lot of reasons. One of them is that he works closely with the men and women in the audience. He knows they have businesses to run and he knows they have concerns. It meant the world to the people in the room when he said New Jersey transportation projects are moving forward, despite concerns about a federal funding freeze.”
