Newark, NJ (June 13, 2025)Today, Alliance for Action president Jerry Keenan joined Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole, Executive Director Rick Cotton, New Jersey Transportation Commissioner Fran O’Connor and other leaders to break ground on the long-anticipated Newark Liberty International Airport Station Access Project – a transformational effort that will change lives.

The $160 million investment will dramatically improve access to Newark Airport for local neighborhoods and create construction and long-term jobs, while reducing traffic congestion and harmful emissions. It’s a huge win for mobility, equity, and sustainability in our region.

The project also prioritizes union jobs, local hiring, and small business participation—ensuring real economic impact for Newark and beyond.

It’s not just a transit project. It’s a quality-of-life project – one that’ll make New Jersey stronger, greener, and more connected.

Since 1974, The New Jersey Alliance for Action has worked as a non-partisan and non-profit association representing thousands of business, labor, government, utility, education, professional, and other New Jersey leaders. Our mission is to improve New Jersey’s economy through the promotion of environmentally friendly capital construction and infrastructure investment.
