BRIDGEWATER, NJ (September 22, 2025) – Somerset County is investing in its infrastructure, its businesses, and its people. New Jersey Alliance for Action got an up-close look at these upcoming opportunities this morning at the Somerset County Chapter.

“Somerset County is overflowing with construction opportunities, from transportation to utilities, all which will improve the lives of residents, attract visitors, and boost the local economy,” said Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan.

Following remarks from co-chairs, Van Cleef Engineering CEO Cindy Norfleet and Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson, speakers across sectors shared details on upcoming work in the region.

Somerset County Engineer Matthew Loper highlighted an ambitious road, bridge and building maintenance plan, totaling nearly $50 million.

NJ TRANSIT Acting Chief of Capital Delivery – Construction Management & Project Management detailed the agency’s $1.8 billion capital program for 2025 which includes investments at Hoboken Terminal, Newark Penn Station, Walter Rand Transportation Center, the Portal North Bridge and more. Roessner also shared information on upcoming opportunities across the next 30 months and how to get involved.

NJ Department of Environmental Protection Assistant Director of Dam Safety & Flood Engineering Kunal Patel discussed the Green Brook Flood Risk Management Project being done in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with an anticipated investment of nearly half a billion dollars.

JCP&L Area Manager of External Affairs Bob Flynn shared details on the Bernardsville Circuit Relocation Project and several additional major upgrades to improve reliability across the county.

NJ American Water Director of Engineering Michael Wolan shared details on over $856 million in upcoming work including lead service line replacements, PFAS mitigation, and pump station and treatment plant upgrades.
