TOMS RIVER (October 20, 2025) – Ocean County is investing in education, utilities, and infrastructure to improve access to opportunities and better everyday lives across the region’s rapidly growing population.

In fact, specifics of hundreds of millions of dollars in projects were shared today at the Alliance for Action’s Ocean County Chapter meeting at Ocean County College.

“Construction investment in Ocean County is vital, and coming in strong,” NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said. “The projects discussed today will stimulate local economies, create hundreds of construction jobs, improve access to education and business opportunities, and accommodate thousands of residents building their lives in Ocean County.”

Ocean County Chapter co-chairs — Deputy Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Frank Sadeghi and President of the Monmouth-Ocean Counties Construction Trades Council Mike Ricca — kicked off the program.

Ocean County Engineer Mark Jehnke then outlined more than $236 million in upcoming projects between 2025 and 2028. The county is currently working with over 233 capital projects, including 27 new traffic signals, bridge replacements and rehabilitations, road improvements and more.

Christopher Constantino, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection Bureau Chief of the Division of Resilience Engineering and Construction, Office of Coastal Engineering also detailed recent and ongoing projects across coastal storm risk management and shoreline stabilization.

Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools District Superintendent Karen Homiek emphasized the district’s strong relationship with local building and construction trades. Homiek also shared details on the district’s new engineering program based in the marine academy, as well as growth at other campuses.

NJ Department of Transportation Project Manager Sangaran Vijayakumar said there are 22 capital projects currently in the pipeline for Ocean County, amounting to over $600 million in transportation infrastructure improvement investment in the next five years.

JCP&L External Affairs Representative Bob Brice said Ocean County is the fastest growing area across the entire multistate First Energy territory. The utility, he said, plans to invest about $200 million in the region across projects to relocate facilities and strengthen the grid.
