|Federal, state, Gateway Development Commission, NJ TRANSIT and other leaders gathered for the official groundbreaking of the Tonnelle Avenue project in North Bergen today. This marks the beginning of construction of the Hudson River Tunnel project on the New Jersey side.
Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan participated in the groundbreaking and said, “The Hudson River Tunnel Project is a $16 billion investment for our future. It’ll create jobs, energize our economy, reduce commute times and help clean the environment.”
The Hudson River Tunnel, part of the Gateway Project, is the most urgently needed infrastructure project in the nation. Gateway Development Commission CEO Kris Kolluri said five of the nine Hudson River Tunnel contracts are in procurement or construction.
