Manhattan, NY (May 29, 2025) – Today, Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan joined New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Port Authority Chair Kevin O’Toole, Executive Director Rick Cotton, and a host of bi-state decision-makers to mark a momentous occasion—the groundbreaking of the new Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal. This is a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project that will reshape the way millions travel through the region every year. With shovels in the ground, history is officially in the making.

The current Midtown Bus Terminal is the busiest in the world, serving over 250,000 passengers each day. But it simply can’t accommodate the growth and demands of the future. The new terminal will deliver a modern, expanded, and more efficient travel hub—one that supports smoother commutes, cleaner air, and smarter connections.

“This project is a game-changer for New Jersey,” said Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan. “It’ll improve quality of life for thousands of daily commuters while generating long-term economic growth through job creation, investment, and increased mobility between the states.”
