MONROE, NJ (June 13, 2025) – Decision-makers from some of the state’s largest healthcare networks joined the NJ Alliance for Action at the 14th Annual Healthcare and Life Sciences Construction Conference. The audience of nearly 300 heard firsthand details on billions in upcoming construction.
“Investment in state-of-the-art healthcare facilities is vital to keep leading specialists and healthcare professionals accessible across the state. Healthcare construction keeps New Jersey residents healthy while being a huge economic driver through stimulation of local business and major job creation,” NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said.
Speakers shared major investments and exciting upcoming projects.
Atlantic Health System’s Robert Peake, Vice President of Facilities Management, Construction, and Real Estate discussed the Morristown Medical Center expansion, which will create 500 permanent jobs and more than 1,500 union construction jobs.
Inspira Health Chief Operating Officer Warren E. Moore detailed the $240 million Mullica Hill expansion, which will include a new five-story wing, maternal child health expansion, and renovation of existing space.
Virtua Health Vice President of Facilities Development Julie Herb outlined the expansion of Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden and an allied housing project, upgrades to Willingboro Hospital, and the rebuilding of Mount Holly’s campus.
Rutgers University Vice President of Planning, Development, and Design David Schulz, detailed the $1.8 billion expansion of University Hospital in Newark, a partnership with the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO). Rutgers is also planning renovations of its Medical Science Building.
RWJBarnabas Health Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development Brian Cich discussed recently completed and ongoing projects, including the Jack & Sherryl Morris Cancer Center, the Ambulatory Medical Pavilion at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the Vogel Cancer Center and Ambulatory Care Pavilion.
Hackensack University Medical Center Senior Vice President of Facilities and Construction Donald Ferrell detailed several projects, including $400 million in upgrades at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, investment at the Palisades Medical Center, and a new ambulatory care center in Clifton, adjacent to its medical school.
PSE&G Program Support Manager Michael Hairston discussed how the utility is working with healthcare providers to maintain and lower costs through energy efficiency and incentive programs.
