GALLOWAY, NJ (August 8, 2025) – South Jersey is booming with billions of dollars in upcoming infrastructure investment and development. Attendees at “Investing In South Jersey: Where The Action Is,” got all the details this morning.

“Big things are happening in South Jersey, largely thanks to the people in the room this morning,” said NJ Alliance For Action President Jerry Keenan. “The work detailed today will improve the lives of residents for generations to come.”

Rowan University President Dr. Ali Houshmand shared details on over $1.7 billion in projects planned for the next decade. Upcoming projects include a holistic wellness village, a new research lab, and renovations to Esbjornson Gymnasium. Current projects include the new Schreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, the Virtua Health College Research Center, and a nursing building. Dr. Houshmand said Rowan University is powering the development of a new Silicon Valley in South Jersey.

U.S. Coast Guard Commander Sarah Krolman outlined $425 million in upcoming construction investments at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Facility in Cape May.

Virtua Health Vice President of Facilities Julie Herb outlined several ongoing projects, namely the $500 million renovation and expansion of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority Executive Director Jim Carone shared updates on major projects, including the Turnpike Exits 1-4 expansion, road safety enhancements and operational improvements between mileposts 78.8 to 84.5.

South Jersey Industries Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Steven Cocchi told attendees about the ongoing South Jersey Gas Hydrogen Project, construction of RNG production facilities in Atlantic and Burlington counties, and $320 million in pipeline replacements. He also gave details on the Linden Renewable Energy Project, one of the largest food-to-waste renewable natural gas projects in the United States.

Aqua New Jersey President Natalie Chesko projected $55 million in infrastructure upgrades across the next 5 years – including water main replacements, PFAS treatment and emergency response initiatives.

South Jersey Transportation Authority Executive Director Stephen Dougherty said the agency is focused on finishing its All Electronic Tolling (AET) and Atlantic City Expressway expansion projects, multiple terminal upgrades at Atlantic City International Airport, its partnership with the DRPA & NJ TRANSIT on the Glassboro Camden Line and more.

Atlantic City Electric Senior Manager of Distribution Engineering and Design Bill Saraceno outlined the utility’s half billion dollar capital program for 2025-27.
