BRIDGEWATER (July 13, 2026) – More than $1 billion in transportation, utility and infrastructure investments are coming to Somerset County.

NJ Alliance for Action Somerset County Chapter meeting guests this morning learned about upcoming opportunities and networked with decision makers leading the major projects.

“Somerset County is making major investments in the systems residents rely on daily: transportation, utilities, public infrastructure,” NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said. “These projects keep people safe and healthy, improve lives and generate economic activity for local communities.”

Somerset County Co-Chairs, Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson and Van Cleef Engineering CEO and Managing Member Cindy Norfleet, gave opening remarks.

Somerset County Engineer and Director of the Department of Engineering and Planning Matt Loper provided a 12-month construction outlook. His presentation included projected investment of $20.8 million across 18 road, bridge, park and public building projects.

NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Office of Dam Safety and Flood Engineering Assistant Director Kunal Patel shared updates on the Green Brook Flood Risk Management Project. The agency is currently completing $50 million in levees, pump stations, closure gates and ponding areas for interior drainage.

NJDEP also has taken over the process of acquiring public properties involved with the project.

NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Project Manager Kevin Bancroft detailed just over $1 billion in active, recent and upcoming agency projects in Somerset County. That work includes pavement preservation, safety improvements, bridge replacements, road resurfacing, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, congestion relief and more.

New Jersey American Water Director of Engineering, Project Delivery Michael Wolan detailed current and upcoming investments in the county, including the $250 million Canal Road Water Treatment Plant PFAS, $550 million Raritan Millstone Water Treatment Plant PFAS, and $70 million in central lead service replacements.
