PARAMUS, NJ (March 6, 2026) – Leaders across government, labor, business, utilities and more joined NJ Alliance for Action this morning at the Bergen County Chapter Meeting to connect on upcoming construction opportunities and gain firsthand details on projects coming to the region.
“Bergen County is making major investments across infrastructure, utilities, education and more to improve lives for everyone lives, works, and visits here,” said NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan. “These projects create jobs, strengthen the systems people rely on and boost both the local and state economy.”
County Executive James Tedesco said Bergen County is “the economic engine of the state” and outlined several new capital projects including the Route 17 Bottleneck, the PACE Building at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, $300 million upgrades for the Bergen County Utilities Authority, the Carlton Trails greenway project and several others.
Rockland Electric CEO Michele O’ Connell said that Rockland Electric Company will invest $750 million over the next 10 years to build and maintain infrastructure to support growing demand. Upcoming projects like the new Franklin Lakes Substation will increase capacity and reliability while creating local jobs, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing quality of life.
Veolia North America Assistant Director of Engineering Dejan Pandza detailed over $190 million investment in 2026 for NJ infrastructure projects like water main and valve replacement, lead service line replacement, and water treatment. Major Bergen County projects include PFAS treatment in Allendale and upgrades to Montvale tanks and pump station.
NJ Schools Development Authority CEO Manuel Da Silva shared details on several school construction projects and investments across the state including the currently under construction $87.6 million new elementary school in Garfield and the upcoming new elementary school in Elizabeth, new middle school in West New York, new high school in Passaic City, and new STEAM high school in Paterson.
