EDISON, NJ (October 21, 2025) – Elizabethtown Gas and its parent company, South Jersey Industries (SJI), are investing across the state in renewable natural gas (RNG), infrastructure and new technologies, while also prioritizing safety and customer care. Elizabethtown Gas President and Chief Operating Officer Christie McMullen shared details on these investments this morning at the Alliance for Action’s Inside Scoop Meeting.

“New Jersey needs more juice, that’s why the Alliance is proud to promote investment towards maintaining existing infrastructure and creating the infrastructure needed for new energy sources and technologies,” New Jersey Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said.

McMullen outlined the Linden Renewable Energy Project, one of the largest food-to-waste RNG projects in the U.S., which is expected to convert food waste into pipeline-quality RNG and inject into Elizabethtown Gas’ gas distribution system upon completion projected for 2026. The project is expected to generate the equivalent of 30,200 gallons of gasoline/day.

SJI is also constructing similar RNG production facilities in Atlantic and Burlington counties. The facilities are expected to produce 4.6 million gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) per year of RNG and nearly 6.5 million GGE per year of RNG, respectively.

SJI’s South Jersey Gas Hydrogen Project is exploring hydrogen-based energy and upon completion is projected to generate approximately 33,000 kilograms of hydrogen annually, which has the same amount of energy as 33,000 gallons of gasoline.

Elizabethtown gas currently has a $120 million, 2-year Infrastructure Investment Program extension, which will replace about 75 miles of main. South Jersey Gas has a $200 million, 5-year program, which will replace about 250 miles of main.

New technology is also being utilized to aid the maintenance of existing infrastructure. Elizabethtown gas is using Cast Iron Sealing Robot (CISBOT) to remediate joints in pipes.
