Bayonne, NJ (February 25, 2025) – Big things are happening in Hudson County and the New Jersey Alliance for Action’s members heard all about it Tuesday morning at the Hudson County Chapter meeting in Bayonne.
“Hudson County is an epicenter of development in New Jersey. It’s constantly growing, creating jobs, supporting businesses, and improving infrastructure for its residents and businesses. Billions of dollars are being invested in the next few years thanks to local leadership, community partners, and the incredibly valuable building trades,” said New Jersey Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan.
Attendees heard from some of the state’s largest agencies.
Damian McShane, Assistant Director of Capital Projects Management Division PATH at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), gave an overview of the PATH Forward Program, a $430 million investment in the system which includes station improvements, track and infrastructure work and passenger car overhaul. The event coincided with the same day of the Hoboken PATH Station reopening, a big piece in PATH Forward.
Stephen Sigmund, Chief of Public Outreach at the Gateway Development Commission gave updates on several ongoing projects, including the Hudson Tunnel Project, which has secured billions in funding. Officials said the recently awarded $1.2 billion Manhattan Tunnel Project is projected to create 15,800 jobs.
Petra Messick, Senior Program Director of AMTRAK Capital Delivery reported that AMTRAK has a huge chunk of its overall infrastructure investment in NJ in Hudson County. New projects include the Sawtooth Bridge and Dock Bridge rehabilitation efforts
Jonathan Nelson, Director of Capital Project Delivery & Administration at NJ TRANSIT, informed attendees that NJ TRANSIT has started the Hoboken Connect project, the new tracking for Hoboken Station in the old Long Ship yard and is upgrading its bus fleet to serve its 50,000 daily Hudson County riders.
Lisa Navarro, Senior Supervising Engineer at the NJ Turnpike Authority detailed the Newark Bay Hudson County Extension, a major undertaking across 17 years with an investment of about $10.7 billion dollars. The NJTA shared information on upcoming contract opportunities on the project, expected in April.
Michelle Richardson, Executive Director of Hudson County Economic Development Corporation, said her agency has granted 192 business loans amounting to $29,270,361.
John Moolick, Senior Director of Operations at Veolia Water, shared plans to invest $150 million in New Jersey in 2025 with seven projects and large investments in Hudson County.
