EWING, N.J. (January 15, 2025) — Mercer County is overflowing with construction opportunities, over a billion dollars worth. That’s what speakers at the New Jersey Alliance for Action’s Mercer County Chapter had to share with the event’s overflowing crowd Wednesday morning at The College of New Jersey.

“Mercer County is filled with construction opportunities. They’re each creating jobs, economic activity and a better quality of life for its residents,” NJ Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan said.

James Langsdorf, Deputy Director of the Office of Design and Construction in the Division of Property Management and Construction (DPMC), New Jersey Department of The Treasury

Manuel DaSilva, Chief Executive Officer, NJ Schools Development Authority (NJSDA)

Basit “Sunny” Muzaffar, P.E., Mercer County Engineer

The DPMC plans to invest $238 million in construction during 2025 and another $587 million in 2026. Projects coming to the Mercer County area include a new NJ State Police HQ Training Academy and upgrades to various healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, and government offices.

The NJSDA is launching construction of a new $84 million dollar elementary school in Trenton. It also plans to invest more than $81 million in roofing, HVAC, hot water and boiler upgrades on 19 projects across 5 school districts in Mercer County.

Muzaffar detailed various ongoing projects as well as upcoming work through to 2028. Projects include replacements and upgrades to several roadways, bridges, and infrastructure amounting to over $180 million.
