Edison, NJ (December 8, 2024) – Big news in the world of transit today: New Jersey Transit President and CEO Kevin Corbett is stepping down after seven years reshaping the agency.

Corbett sent his resignation to Gov. Murphy this morning and plans to become a Senior Fellow for Transportation at the Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation.

His last day at Transit will be Jan. 15.  NJ TRANSIT  is expected to appoint an acting President & CEO at its Wednesday board meeting.

“Kevin Corbett has done a tremendous job for New Jersey,” said Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan. “In 2017, NJ TRANSIT had $60 million in hard money contracts. Since being named President and CEO in 2018, NJ TRANSIT has advanced more than $6 billion in capital projects, with another anticipated $8 billion in the next three years.”

Under Corbett’s leadership, NJ TRANSIT has invested several billion dollars in transformational infrastructure projects, such as the new $2.3 billion dollar Portal North Bridge, which is currently under construction.

“These investments and the ones that will come soon, will improve New Jersey’s lives for generations to come,” Keenan said.
