September 30, 2024 – Somerset County is action-packed with upgrades to its aging infrastructure. It was announced at the Alliance for Action’s Somerset County Chapter that there are more than a billion dollars being spent between the county, JCP&L, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and New Jersey American Water.

Thirty projects are happening across the county, including traffic and road safety, bridge renovations, park upgrades, and more.
Patel shared details and numerous pictures of the Green Brook Flood Control Project and the half billion dollar repairs being made to strengthen its infrastructure for environmental resiliency.
New Jersey American Water has extensive plans in the county including replacing miles of lead pipes, treatment facility improvements, main line extensions, pump station upgrades, and more.
JCP&L has invested $1.7 billion in NJ infrastructure and created over 7,000 new jobs. The EnergizeNJ plan is investing nearly a billion dollars in grid modernization, system resiliency, and substation modernization projects. They forecast $26 billion in planned investments from 2024-2028. Somerset County resident will benefit through reduced power outages.
